THE CAROLINA CARES
SUSANN "ZANNY" WIGGER
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
Christmas 2023
So another amazing Carolina Cares Christmas event is in the record books!
Including a few more families that we will be helping the remainder of this week and some gifts we are passing to another org holding their event next Saturday, we will have provided toys, clothing, hygiene, diapers, formula, books, or other gifts to approximately 600 kids and over 200 families.
Special thanks go out to Clouds Brewing, John, and Francis. You have been so generous in allowing us to partner with you for Christmas and it means the world to us. Friends if you like good craft beer and visiting breweries go check out Clouds.
We had an army of volunteers helping us unload, sort, organize and wrap items as well as helping clients shop for things they know their children need and want. Many of our families are single parent households being led by mothers and grandmothers. It has been a hard year in many ways for people, and I am proud to have helped these families alleviate some of their burden and provide some happiness for their children.
We could not have done this without you and we are grateful for everyone who helped us. Please feel free to tag yourselves if I’ve inadvertently missed you. Also if I didn’t get a chance to really chat with you because I was so busy please reach out.
Please mark us down on your calendar for Saturday December 14, 2024 if you want to join us next year. At the rate we are growing we could use another 20 volunteers.
Shameless plug: if you’re out shopping after Christmas and see those 70-90% off sales, we will happily collect and save toys for next year.

Holiday Season
During the 2020-2023 holiday seasons, Carolina Cares served over 1400 children and their families with a combination of toys, clothing, and food. Our toy, coat, and gift giveaway would not be possible without our generous donors. In 2023 alone we served approximately 250 families.
At Thanksgiving and Christmas, Carolina Cares hosts a sponsorship program, matching private sponsors with families who need help with dinner and gifts. This allows anyone to provide food for a family in need by donating groceries directly to them for their Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. For holiday gifts it is a chance to choose specific children to 'adopt' and sponsor. Some sponsors choose children who are the most local, the youngest, the same age or who shares a special interest as their own child, or even in memoriam for children who have been lost.
